“It has been a privilege and joy for all four of our children to have attended Crookston High School over the past nine years. We have watched them grow into confident individuals as a result of the extensive amount of opportunities available in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our kids have learned strong leadership and communication skills and developed valuable character traits that have and will prepare them for success in life after high school.” - Leah & Chris Winjum

We recently completed or are in the process of completing building upgrades that will benefit students for years to come. This includes a multi-use, state-of-the-art outdoor complex and a new preschool wing at Highland Elementary School.
RENEWED FOCUS ON SAFETY
Crookston Public Schools recently deployed a 7-step plan to improve safety at all schools:
-
Creating a district Student Safety Committee made up of school staff, students, parents, law enforcement and collaborative partners
-
Conducting research-based behavior intervention training for staff
-
Delivering conflict resolution education to staff
-
Adding a Behavior Interventionist at each Crookston Middle School and Washington Elementary School
-
Developing a plan to improve communication with staff and families
-
Collaborating with Polk County Health and other local agencies to increase awareness, intervention, and education on the harmful effects of vaping
-
Adding safe, private, and secure individual gender-neutral restroom stalls for any student choosing to use them.
DISCOVER THE CROOKSTON COMMUNITY
Located in northwestern Minnesota, the Crookston Public Schools covers 436 square miles and serves the communities of Crookston, Euclid, and Gentilly.
Our agriculturally rich community is housed on the banks of the Red River and is home to a historic downtown space, filled with deep and lasting traditions. The quality of life and opportunities for outdoor recreation in Crookston are second to none.
Our small community serves as home to the University of Minnesota’s Crookston campus. It’s also not far from the Greater Grand Forks area. Both provide our residents with the feel of a larger metropolitan area and ample opportunities for entertainment and varied cultural experiences without having to travel far from home.
